About

A small audit practice for fintech desks that still file paper evidence

Clearwater Risk Review was formed to give payment, remittance, and lending teams in Taiwan an independent reviewer who will sit with process owners—not only with policy binders—before issuing a written opinion.

Professional team discussing documents in a bright office

Origin

The practice grew out of repeated partner-bank questionnaires that asked southern Taiwan operators for comfort letters they could not honestly sign. Founders wanted a reviewer who understood FSC expectations and the constraints of lean compliance teams outside Taipei’s denser advisory market.

We keep the firm intentionally small. Engagements are sequenced so the same lead who scopes the work also signs the memorandum. That continuity matters when findings must be defended in a board room months later.

Working approach

Listen first

Scoping names product rails, third parties, and evidence gaps before any fee is fixed.

Test samples

Findings cite files, alerts, and reconciliations—not policy chapter numbers alone.

Write plainly

Memoranda use residual-risk language boards can fund or consciously accept.

Stay bounded

We do not sell software, outsourced compliance officer seats, or legal opinions.
